Practic: Planning a Single Dive with the RDP

Practice: Planning a Single Dive with the RDP

1. Complete the following dive profile:

Depth: 40 ft

Time: 40-min

Steps:

  1. 1. From the starting point, move across the depth chart row until you find the depth [40] ft

  2. 2. Staying in the 40 ft depth column, find the black box at the bottom of the column. The number in the black box [140]-min is your No Decompression Limit (NDL)

  3. 3. Staying in the 40 ft depth column, move down until you find your dive time [40]-min

  4. 4. If the box is gray or black, then a safety stop is required. Our box is blue, therefore a safety stop is not required

  5. 5. From the dive time move left or right across the row until you come to a letter. The Letter [I] is your Pressure Group (PG)

2. Complete the following dive profile:

Depth: 65 ft

Time: 35-min

Steps:

  1. 1. From the starting point, move across the depth chart row until you find the depth [65] ft. This depth is NOT LISTED, therefore we ROUND UP to the next deeper depth that is listed [70] ft.

  2. 2. Staying in the 70 ft depth column, find the black box at the bottom of the column. The number in the black box [40]-min is your No Decompression Limit (NDL)

  3. 3. Staying in the 70 ft depth column, move down until you find your dive time [35]-min

  4. 4. If the box is gray or black, then a safety stop is required. Our box is gray, therefore a safety stop is required

  5. 5. From the dive time move left or right across the row until you come to a letter. The Letter [Q] is your Pressure Group (PG)

3. Complete the following dive profile:

Depth: 100 ft

Time: 15-min

Steps:

  1. 1. From the starting point, move across the depth chart row until you find the depth [100] ft.

  2. 2. Staying in the 100 ft depth column, find the black box at the bottom of the column. The number in the black box [20]-min is your No Decompression Limit (NDL)

  3. 3. Staying in the 100 ft depth column, move down until you find your dive time [15]-min

  4. 4. If the box is gray or black, then a safety stop is required. Our box is gray, therefore a safety stop is required

  5. 5. From the dive time move left or right across the row until you come to a letter. The Letter [J] is your Pressure Group (PG)

4. Complete the following dive profile:

Depth: 45 ft

Time: 65-min

Steps:

  1. 1. From the starting point, move across the depth chart row until you find the depth [45] ft. This depth is NOT LISTED, therefore we ROUND UP to the next deeper depth that is listed [50] ft.

  2. 2. Staying in the 50 ft depth column, find the black box at the bottom of the column. The number in the black box [80]-min is your No Decompression Limit (NDL)

  3. 3. Staying in the 50 ft depth column, move down until you find your dive time [65]-min. This time is NOT LISTED, therefore we ROUND UP to the next higher time that is listed [67]-min.

  4. 4. If the box is gray or black, then a safety stop is required. Our box is gray, therefore a safety stop is required

  5. 5. From the dive time move left or right across the row until you come to a letter. The Letter [U] is your Pressure Group (PG)
